There was huge turnout for the first NYRR points race of 2022, including the Mayor, 5,199 runners, and 251 different teams.
Conditions were less than ideal on a notoriously hilly course. Rain began to fall just in time for the start of the race, as shivering runners waited in their corrals for the opening gun.
Team Osprey finished a very respectable 15th among women’s clubs (represented by Emily, Courtney, Patricia, Amy, and Melissa) and 27th among men’s clubs (Alex F, Konstantin, Clarke, John, and Matt). We earned 5 points on the women’s side and 3 points on the men’s side. Yay, points!
Team Osprey’s deep roster included two husband-and-wife tandems. Michael and Melissa ran in Michael’s first official race as an Osprey, and Alex G ran with his (non-Osprey) wife.
Other notables included Francisco’s long-awaited return to racing, John’s 8th place age group finish, and Alex F with a 5K PR. Lynn, Cassie, and Arlo gave all of the runners a boost in the final stretch, and the out-and-back format meant that Osprey sightings abounded during the race.
